Turkish Jews May be Forced to Leave Turkey….as anti-Semitism Shows its Ugly Head again

During the 15th Century Jews were forced to leave Spain or convert to the Roman Catholic Church. Tens of thousands died, others fled to Turkey and other countries.  It was the 1492 Spanish Inquisition.  Many Jews who could afford it paid a lot of money to be rescued by boats only to be taken out into the middle of the Mediterranean Sea and thrown overboard.

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been very anti-Semitic in his hate speech towards Israel – and the Jews in Turkey, mostly descended from those persecuted in the Spanish Inquisition, are now  being forced into considering moving out of Turkey before it is too late for them.

Over 500 years ago the Jews fled for their lives from Spain to Turkey. Today they are being forced to once again move in fear of their lives.  This time many will try to make it to Israel – and some will return to Spain as new laws there are being considered to receive them.  No one knows how many are coming to Israel, but one thing is certain, a few thousand hopefully will.

Our concern is; will we be able to rescue them if this happens in the next few weeks or months with war going on as most IDF Generals predict. If so there will be no commercial flights coming in or out of Israel, boats will be their only chance.  And we may be the only one in this area with provisions and boats to save a few.  And a few is not enough when we could do so much more with a larger boat.

This same scenario will be playing out throughout all of Europe and in fact it is already.  French Jews are now leaving France by the thousands and many will wait too late to go by commercial airlines and will need our help as well.

For the past few years I’ve been saying this was going to happen, and now it is happening. Yet we still only have two 60-foot boats capable of carrying only a small percentage of the ones who will need to come aboard.  As I have said before it is a recurring nightmare of having to say to some Jews or Christians there is no more room on the boat, but we will try to come back as soon as we can.

So often I have said to God in prayer, how sorry I am for having failed to do better,  always reminding Him, as if necessary, that He could have found someone else more qualified. Possibly someone with the needed finances to just buy the boats and do all the groundwork needed for logistics, communications and contacts.

It is then I am reminded once again that it is God who has brought the supporters to this ministry for His reasons and eternity will tell that story.  That I must keep on following the leading of the Ruach Hakodesh (Holy Spirit).  That we have not failed as long as we are obedient to His calling, that God doesn’t measure success by the standards of men.

We could reach much further and bring many more Jews home with a larger boat.  But we are also suffering from a lack of finances for food supplies, and provisions, fuel costs and all the many extras needed on board for emergencies.

If you are called to this ministry I pray you will have your eyes opened to the immediate needs and sit down and ask God what He would have you do.  Then, please, in obedience, do it. If the ones He has called to this ministry would do that right now I believe that many more Jews would be saved.  Gen. 12:3

World Governments [mostly the US Government] are doing everything they can to stop the flow of money to ministries like this one.  In the meantime the dollar is set up to fail – and soon.  We may only have a short period of time to use what finances we have and heaven is a really great investment.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, pray for our son Joel and all the IDF soldiers.  Pray for this ministry and your part in it.

Shalom, Jerry Golden
